Weave - build-to-rent masterbrand

Weave, affordable renting built into the fabric of your city, for people and the planet.

Development Victoria needed a master brand for its new build-to-rent projects, which were a new concept in Australia at the time. Government-backed, these developments offer genuine rental opportunities for older Victorians, families or people with disabilities, which makes a key point of difference in a market often targeting young professionals. This is renting for all people.

With diversity at the core the name Weave was chosen. It celebrates the blend of the people living there, the many different people coming together and being part of a community. It also speaks to the idea of the developments being built into the fabric of the city.

Weave is rethinking rental so you can make yourself at home. It offers secure long-term renting where you can bring pets, paint your walls, decorate with artwork and upsize or downsize as your life changes. You can make the most of your time in our five-minute neighbourhood as everything you need is right there.

Weave inspired a vibrant brand language full of bright and cosy colours, upbeat imagery of the diverse community and showcasing the amenities and lively neighbourhoods.

The wordmark is made up of multiple strands ‘weaving’ together. The letterforms are angled in different directions which makes the wordmark appear to be weaving in and out of space. They also have a sense of dimension that links back to the built form of these high residential buildings. The idea behind the name Weave comes through even in the illustrations where fabric is used as a fill, creating a textural and unique style.
